The Professional Standards Councils congratulate CPA Australia on their professional standards scheme, which operates in all states and territories.
At a meeting last month, the Councils’ Chair, John Vines OAM, presented a certificate in recognition of the new scheme to CPA Australia.
The CEO of CPA Australia, Andrew Hunter, received the certificate and acknowledged having a scheme is recognised as a privilege to CPA Australia’s public practitioners and their clients.
The new scheme adopts detailed risk management strategies in support of the removal of an exclusion for accountants providing financial services, extending the protections available to consumers of accounting services.
The Councils consider that the approval of this new scheme will continue to encourage and assist the development of standards regulation of the accounting profession by CPA Australia.
“We look forward to a continued cooperative working relationship, assisting with improvement of members’ professional standards and enhancing consumer protection,” Mr Vines said.
The approval of a new professional standards scheme is a significant achievement and commitment to protecting consumers through the continuous improvement of professional standards.
