The Professional Standards Councils were pleased to host a Forum on 15 October 2026, bringing together representatives from across the national system to explore emerging trends, risks and challenges affecting professions and professional standards regulation.

The Professional Standards Councils were pleased to host a Forum on 15 October 2026, bringing together representatives from across the national system to explore emerging trends, risks and challenges affecting professions and professional standards regulation.

This Forum provided an opportunity for associations from across the national system to explore the key challenges and emerging opportunities presented by artificial intelligence. 

The Professional Standards Councils hosted two Foresight Forums in July 2024. The Forums engaged association leaders and experts on the key challenges and opportunities over the horizon to 2030 for professions and professional standards regulators. 

This Forum provided an opportunity for over 30 delegates from across the national system to hear from experts and peer associations on the topic of ‘Managing compliance – tips, tools and techniques’. 

This Forum featured presentations from an expert panel on the theme of ‘Fit-for-purpose regulation: lessons from reviews’. 

This Forum featured presentations from an expert panel on the theme of innovation in complaints systems, followed by a workshop on complaints systems: your lever to innovation, led by Nicole Cullen.  

This Professional Standards Forum provided the opportunity for over 70 delegates from across Australia to hear from an expert panel on the topic of ‘Responding to risk – insurance and improvement strategies’. 

This Forum featured presentations from a panel on the role of continuing professional development in professional standards and regulatory systems for assuring the ongoing competence of practitioners for better consumer protection.

This Forum featured presentations from a panel on the role of community engagement to build trust and confidence in professional standards regulation, followed by case study workshop sessions led by Peter Gartlan and Jane Eldridge.
