The Professional Standards Councils congratulate the Law Society of South Australia, South Australian Bar Association and Law Institute of Victoria on their new professional standards schemes.
The Law Society of South Australia’s (LSSA) new professional standards scheme commenced in South Australia on 1 July 2022. It is LSSA’s third scheme and will remain in force for a period of five years.
On a visit to Adelaide this month, the Councils’ South Australian member, Timothy Mellor, presented a certificate in recognition of the scheme to LSSA President Justin Stewart-Rattray and Manager Professional Standards Scheme and Operational Risk Officer Tarin Hillier.
The South Australian Bar Association’s (SABA) new professional standards scheme also commenced in South Australia on 1 July 2022. It is SABA’s third scheme and will remain in force for a period of 5 years.
The Law Institute of Victoria’s (LIV) new professional standards scheme commenced in Victoria on 1 July 2022. It is LIV’s third scheme and will remain in force for a period of 5 years.
The approval of a professional standards scheme is a significant achievement. The Councils look forward to a continued focus by the Law Society of South Australia, South Australian Bar Association and Law Institute of Victoria on improved consumer protection through the implementation of robust occupational risk management strategies.
